RC Helicopter Upgrades, Create a Cooler Chopper
A radio controlled helicopter is a cool toy to have. Though they are meant for all ages, some RC helicopters are pretty complex, coming with gadgets and gizmos that most young people wouldn’t even know existed. Here are some of the most common rc helicopter accessories you find in today’s growing niche market along with the necessary components that make up all RC helicopters.
Wireless Video Cameras- Some hobbyists mount wireless cameras onto their RC helicopters to get themselves some amazing overhead footage. Some also use still cameras because they yield the highest resolution images possible. An example of an RC helicopter that uses an aerial video camera is the Draganflyer SAVS.
Transmitters- These are popular tools because it is part of the radio control system that the pilot holds in his hands. The control sticks that are manipulated cause the transmitter to send radio signals to the receiving end, which are then translated into control signals. This helps people direct their RC helicopter with more confidence.
Gyro- This is short for gyroscope and it is a small electrical device that is used to control and stabilize the helicopter’s heading. It does this by detecting the rotation of the helicopter and sending commands to the helicopter’s anti-torque system. Basically, it helps to stabilize the tail
Torque Tubes- This accessory prevents drag on the motor much better than a tail belt and it is 10 times more durable during operation. A torque tube helps drive the tail rotor from the helicopter’s main rotor. It uses a carbon fiber tube or a wide drive that is mounted on the interior of the tail boom with gears at each end. Torque tubes are less tolerant on boom strikes and it tends to strip gears in the event of a crash.
There are a number of ways to pump op the performance of an RC helicopter. Be sure that you know what your RC helicopter is all about. You should always destruct and reconstruct it, just to make sure. The main parts of an RC helicopter are its main rotor, the tail rotor, the main mast and swashplate, the tail belt and torque, the anti-rotation bracket, the blade, the canopy and tail boom, the boom stays, and the landing gear. Each RC helicopter comes equipped with all these things but it is up to the pilot to accessorize and customize his chopper to get the best performance that he wants.
